- Ground breaking for the original APH building took place on July 14, 1882. The building, designed by architect Charles J. Clarke, was completed in 1883, at a total cost of $19,116.88. It was built on a 6.8 acre lot, adjacent to and on the west side of the Kentucky School for the Blind, that had been purchased in 1882 for $9,520. Photograph was probably made for APH Museum use.
